St.Andrew’s Day

"On Friday the 29th of November Mr. Stewart made a presentation about Scotland. It was really fun and educational. We learnt about the Saltire, which is the flag of Scotland. It is shaped like a diagonal cross because St. Andrew was crucified on a diagonal cross because he didn't want to get hung up like Jesus. Next we explored Scottish cuisine and got to know about their famous meal of  haggis. It is minced lamb lungs and heart mixed with oatmeal and spiced with herbs and spices, then stuffed into the lambs stomach. The meal is absolutely delicious apparently. After the mouth-watering lecture we looked at the national suit- the kilt. It is a man-worn dress that often has a pattern on it – Tartan. Under the kilt a man doesn't wear any pants. Then we got to know about ceilidh dancing. Some people even tried it. After that we held hands and sang "Auld Lang Syne". Then we tasted some marvelous oatmeal cookies and short bread. They were totally astonishing in taste. We then got told about the language (Gaelic) and looked at the geographical surface of Scotland. Lastly we finished the day off with Maciek Dmoch's presentation. It was really good. He told us about Loch Ness and the monster that lives in there-Nessie and his recent visit to Scotland."
