During one of our Science Freaks classes we experimented with water and oil.
First we added some food dye to half a jar of water, then we poured some vegetable oil into the jar and let it settle.
Next, we poured a few drops of washing-up liquid into the jar and watched what was happening… drops of washing-up liquid sank to the bottom of the jar, but oil is less dense than washing-up liquid and water, so the oil drops escaped and rose back to float on the surface again.
We had fun watching the drops "dancing" in the jar:)
